What Data We Collect

Analytics

We use Mixpanel to collect anonymous usage data — things like which features are used, how often, and API performance metrics. This helps us improve the app.

Analytics data is not linked to your identity. We don't collect names, emails, device IDs, or any personally identifiable information through analytics.

Food Scanning and Search

When you scan food with the camera or search by text, your image or query is sent to our servers for AI-powered nutritional analysis. Images and queries are processed in real-time and are not permanently stored.

Inaccuracy Reports

If you report a food result as inaccurate, the food name, calorie estimate, the category of issue you selected, and any details you type are sent to our server and to Mixpanel. This only happens when you explicitly tap the report button — never automatically. Reports are used solely to improve accuracy and are not linked to your identity. An anonymous device identifier is included to prevent spam.

Apple Health

If you enable Apple Health integration, Nibby may read your weight, height, age, and biological sex to personalize your goals, and write your calorie and macro intake to Apple Health.

HealthKit data is never sent to our servers, to Mixpanel, or to any third party. It stays entirely within Apple's ecosystem on your device and your personal iCloud account. You can revoke access anytime in Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > Nibby.

iCloud Sync

Your food log, favorites, and preferences sync across your devices using Apple's CloudKit. This data lives in your personal iCloud account — we don't have access to it. You can disable sync in your device's iCloud settings.

Purchases

Subscription and tip purchases are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We never see your payment information.

How We Use Your Data

We use anonymous analytics data to improve features, fix bugs, and understand usage patterns. We don't use your data for advertising, user profiling, or selling to third parties.

Third-Party Services

• Mixpanel — anonymous usage analytics, plus food name and calorie data from voluntary inaccuracy reports
• Our backend API — food image/text processing (not stored) and inaccuracy reports (stored to improve accuracy)

We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with anyone.

Data Retention

• Analytics: Retained per Mixpanel's retention policies. Data is anonymous and cannot be traced to individuals.
• Food images: Processed in real-time, not permanently stored.
• On-device data: Stored on your device and in your iCloud account. Delete entries in the app or delete the app to remove it.

Your Choices

• Delete food log entries anytime within the app
• Revoke Apple Health permissions in iOS Settings
• Disable iCloud sync in your device settings
• Delete the app to remove all local data

Children's Privacy

Nibby is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children. Contact us if you believe we have inadvertently done so.

EU (GDPR) and California (CCPA)

We don't collect personal information as defined by GDPR or CCPA. All analytics are anonymous and cannot identify individuals. We don't sell personal information. If you'd like to request data deletion, contact us and we'll work with Mixpanel to accommodate your request.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Effective" date above.
